Projects are extended pieces of work that take some time to complete. For this assignment you need to produce three projects on three different disorders. You should check your choices with your tutor before you start you research.
All projects involve some degree of planning, information gathering, presentation of researched material and evaluation. You should complete each of your projects using the following headings:
Abstract: This is a summary of the project and should be about 200 words long. Anyone reading the abstract should be able to have a good idea about the project’s contents without reading further.
Introduction to the disorder in general (1.1)
Signs and symptoms (1.2)
Origins: Physiological (1.1) and other contributory factors affecting onset e.g. lifestyle employment, hereditary factors, diet . (1.3)
Investigative processes and procedures involved in assessing the disorder (e.g. medical history, blood tests, blood pressure, CT scan) (2.2)
The process of referral to identified specialist services (2.1)
Care services available: e.g. in the following settings: hospital, clinic and GP surgeries. Consider the suitability for this illness- compare and contrast the care services here (3.1)
The roles and responsibilities of professionals: GP, nurses, clinical specialists, care assistants (3.2)
Range of treatments available for the condition (3.3)

Adapting to the new illness: How the patient may have to adapt to the newly diagnosed condition (4.1)
Coping strategies: Explain a range of strategies that would help individuals cope with lifestyle changes caused by selected disorders (4.1, 4.2)
Prognosis and long term outcome: For each of the selected disorders, explain the likely prognosis and discuss potential long term outcomes for the individual.
N.B. If there is an opportunity to use similar information across each project i.e. same tests, same after care, this information can be used in the 2nd and 3rd assignment but the information has to be specific to the condition.
·and in the margin where you feel you have met the criteria.
