Locate any journal article or book related to your topic. Select any article or selection from that work, ideally something you will use in your paper.
Type one sentence from that source, exactly as it appears in the original. Be sure to take note of all of the necessary bibliographic information regarding that source.
Write a sentence that utilizes the sentence you have listed as a quote. Be sure to set the quote up (launch statement), capture the quote itself in quote marks, and end the sentence with a parenthetical citation.
Now write a sentence using that same sentence from #2, but this time paraphrase it instead of quoting it. Again, you need to set it up with who’s saying it and end the sentence with a parenthetical citation. Be careful not to follow the original wording or sentence structure too closely.
Lastly, write a Reference entry for your source. Consult your text, being sure to include the necessary information for the type of source you have chosen.
